What are group tape days?

Act, observe or participate by being a reader for a fellow actor as they play their scenes in front of the camera. Group self-taping days take place multiple times a month. Decide if you want to do a monologue or act out scenes as a duo. Only actors with a multi-pass will receive a video, but there will be time to watch the recordings on the big screen that day or later in the week.

How long is a session on group tape day?

A session on group tape day lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes per actor.

How many scenes can I tape?

Each actor can tape up to 2 scenes per group session. Each scene becomes one video, so two scenes give you two videos.

Can I bring a reader?

Yes. You may bring someone to read with you, or ask us to provide a reader. Let us know if you prefer a male or female reader.

Can I come to observe?

Yes, but please arrive on time. Once filming begins, we cannot allow additional visitors to enter the studio until the session is finished. Each session lasts 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Can I be a reader if I’m part of the audience?

Yes, although the actor performing the scene will make the final decision in that regard.

What should I wear?

Be intentional about what you wear for the session to achieve the desired result. Black, white, or earthy tones work well. Avoid logos, see-through tops, distracting jewellery, and overly characterful clothing. Short-sleeved tops work well, and your clothes should make it easy to attach a microphone pack. We do not recommend wardrobe changes because they take time away from your session.

Will anyone do my makeup?

There will not be anyone available to do your makeup, so please manage it yourself. You are welcome to arrive at the studio 30 minutes before your session to prepare. We recommend a natural look overall, and a mirror is available.

Can I improvise or do a cold reading?

Yes. Actors should be familiar with the material and mostly prepared before the taping session. If you plan to improvise, please prepare your scenarios beforehand. We often encourage improvisation around the script to keep the performance fresh. However, we will still need to keep to the allotted session time.

Do you provide monologues?

We do not provide custom monologues, but the Resources section offers rotating suggestions and links to full libraries. You are also welcome to bring original material that you have written.

What payment methods do you accept?

You can pay online through the website or in cash.

What are the cancellation terms?

Please make sure you can commit to the date before booking, as our scheduling is irregular. If you do not communicate a cancellation at least 24 hours before the session, you will lose one session from your multi-pass. Rescheduling is also subject to availability.
